Drop Off/Pick Up

Dear Parents and Carers,

Playground/Portakabin Update

Planning permission having (at last) been granted on 7th August for our proposed new 4.7.11 building, we have been working with Portakabin over the holiday to site, connect and install the kabin prior to the children starting school. This has been achieved in an extremely tight window with only minimal work now needing to be done by the company to finalise and hand over the building. The planning permission dictated that the building should be ‘clad’ and this has been arranged for week commencing 20th September. All other work on the new building should be completed by half term when we hope to formally open the unit and use it for our first October half term holiday club!

You will remember that the PTA have been fundraising for the last two years to pay for a resurface to the playground which had begun to crumble in several areas due to weathering and constant wear and tear. To enable us to have all work completed prior to poorer weather setting in, we have scheduled the resurface for the first week of term as this is a four day week for school and there is still access to the yard from the road before the wall is reinstated. Whilst this means a disruption to the beginning and end of the school day in terms of drop off and pick up, we think it will ultimately be the best plan in the longer term, enabling all main work to be completed in the same phase. Pupils will use the field area at playtimes and lunchtime.

On Tuesday 5th Sept and Wednesday 6th Sept, as a minimum, pupils will need to access school via the top playground next to the tyre park. Pupils should be brought into school via the normal gate off Longsight Rd but then walk left, past the main entrance, around the back of school up the road ramp and onto the small playground. Pupils in junior classes should then go straight into their classrooms as soon as they arrive. There will be sufficient staff to direct them and we would ask parents not to accompany their children into the building to avoid chaos! PLEASE DO NOT COME ONTO THE SCHOOL SITE AT ALL BEFORE 8.45 AM.

Pupils in Year 1 (Miss Leveridge) and Miss Markham’s Reception Class will be able to access their classrooms via the white conservatory doors. Pupils in Year1/2 (Miss Mcloughlin) and Y2 (Mrs Walsh/Mrs Leng) should wait with parents on the small playground next to the tyre park. Once the school whistle goes at 9 am, the teaching staff in these last two classes will come out to collect their pupils to take them into school through the hall. Again, parents are asked not to come into school at this point. If any urgent messages need to be passed on to teachers, this can be done when the staff are collecting the pupils on the yard or via office staff. Please see attached grid for home time pick up details. Please come around school via the road ramp and the back playground in the same way as the morning to collect your children and ensure that you accompany them safely past the car park, staying on the path wherever possible.
