The pupils at Holcombe Brook are very lucky to spend time each year with The CommuniTree Initiative at 'The Island', a forest school in Summerseat. As well as this excellent provision, we are now pleased to have our very own mini forest school area within the school grounds.

Thank you to Dr Sibley for organising a Soup Kitchen to raise funds for the Homeless. Thanks also to Jasmin and her Y6 helpers for running it so well. We raised enough money to support a Soup Kitchen for at least 6 weeks. Thank you for your donations.
In Niagara Falls, we have been learning new art techniques . Firstly, we used chalk pastels to blend colours together to produce poppy field pictures. In addition to the poppy pictures, we had a go at using another media, charcoal, which we used to create these phenomenal portraits of WW2 soldiers.
Our children were treated to a daily mile session by either Mr. Bradshaw or Mrs. Lynchey on the National Daily Mile Day recently.
The benefits are: improved fitness, improved concentration and ultimately, a healthier mind.
The hope is that the taster session will now become a more regular occurrence, using our 100m track around the playground. Many classes also use Go...

Today the Fun Science company came to school to show us some amazing science. They will hopefully be running an after school club at Holcombe Brook soon, so look out for the letters when we send them home!
Our amazing pods were transformed into a drumming class led by our very own Jake. He had prepared brilliant activities for KS1 and KS2 children and was a natural teacher! Thank you for giving up your lunchtime, Jake, you have certainly inspired some younger children to pursue the possibility of becoming a percussionist!
