It wasn’t just water vapour that was travelling around the Golden Gate classroom, there was also a wide variety of terminology being used correctly: evaporation, condensation, states of matter and much more.
The year 5/6 children seemed to enjoy predicting, recording and summarising; producing some wonderful tables, graphs and diagrams.
The children were convinced that it was just water in the pan. The pan was then placed on the hob and we recorded the temperature at one minute intervals. We then created a graph using the mnemonic SALT (Scale, Axis, Labels, Title) to help. Once the evaporation process had been completed and all the water had turned to water vapour, the children were surprised to see a solid left behind, which was actually SALT from the solution.
Well done to all the children.
