Hockey silver for Year 6!

Represent the school in some way

Have a sense of pride in your achievements

Last week, seven year 6 pupils competed in the annual Quicksticks Hockey competition, held at Woodhey High School. The team won 3 of their 4 group games and finished runners up in their group, thereby qualifying for the semi finals. Holcombe Brook managed to win their semi-final 1-0, setting up a final against Christ Church Walshaw.

The final was a tense, nervy affair, with plenty of chances for both teams and some great defending on both sides too. The game finished 1-1, meaning the final was going to extra time and golden goal. Unfortunately for us, Christ Church Walshaw managed to score first and secured the win.

However, our team should be very proud of themselves, finishing runners up in the whole of Bury, on what was a freezing cold night. They earned themselves a silver medal each and will now go on to represent Bury and compete in the Greater Manchester winter school games event, which will take place in 2018.

Well done to all the pupils involved!
