Wow! What a semi final tonight! The girls were up against a tremendous OLOL outfit that we drew 3-3 with recently. We knew it was going to be difficult, especially with the tremendous goalkeeper they have, but we were convinced that if we played to the best of our ability, we would have every chance.

Just thre minutes into the game and Milly, playing in a new striker role, managed to break through one on one with the keeper. She struck a powerful shot and fortunately for team HB, the goalie dived the wrong way. Great finish by Milly,1-0!

The game was end to end after that but not much was getting past the steady defenders:Ella and Rosa who you could tell were very much up for the game!

OLOL had their chances but Rosie in goal was equal to them – showing just how much she has improved recently – well done Rosie! She made saves in the air, on the floor and even with one hand!

Holcombe Brook began to pile on the pressure as the half time whistle drew closer. They earnt a corner which was drifted into the box by Nikita and was hand balled by an OLOL defender in the area. It was a clear penalty and Summer stepped up, converting calmly. 2-0.

The girls all worked incredibly hard and it’s great to see just how much they have improved. Every one of them made crucial tackles, blocks and clearances, even if some of the substitutes didn’t play as much as they would have liked. Still, they are all part of the squad that with ten minutes left, managed to score a third. Ava was played through by Summer and she slotted the ball confidently between the goalies legs.

3-0 and the final now awaits vs Greenhill. Due to both schools having several commitments during this busy time. The only day we can agree on is Wednesday 19th at 1pm at Greenhill school due to their head teacher having a retirement celebration from 2pm onwards on that day. All parents are obviously welcome.
