What a great evening at the fantastic Bury Athletics Club.
We had a huge squad of 20 children representing our school tonight and they didn’t disappoint. Every one of them gave 100% and represented the school superbly.
First up was our girls relay team, they finished a super sixth place in the which will possibly be enough to move into a top 5 spot over the 3 events.
Secondly, our boys’ team, who actually had a great chance of finishing second place overall, if they ran a strong relay race – which they did. They managed to come second in what was a very tight race where we moved from 7th place after the first leg and into 2nd place on the last leg, just, which meant they clinched the silver medals for the 3 events.
We also had success on the individual front with Owain securing a silver medal after a 6th place and a 4th placed finish in the two individual races. A podium spot for an individual hasn’t been achieved in quite some time at Holcombe Brook so a huge well done to Owain!
Finally it was the turn of our 12 year 4s in a taster race! They all worked so hard and really gave it their best shot. Hopefully this will be the platform for them to push on to bigger and better things in the coming years. Unfortunately, we don’t have all the results available but Ella came an amazing 7th out of 70 girls and Callum, who only joined our school yesterday(!), came in 10th place out of 70.
Well done and thank you to all the children that have taken part in the cross country this season!
