Following our runners up position in the annual Bury Quicksticks Hockey Tournament the team set out to St. Joseph’s High in Bolton to compete against teams from Bolton, Bury and Salford.
Sadly, we were ‘minus one’ due to the dynamic Lily Cbeing injured but Liam was first reserve and did a great job.
We got off to a flying start with Lily E striking a great goal to beat our firs opponents 1-0.
3 draws followed and one final victory in the last game. The opposition struggled to cope with the tenacity and quick thinking of Ella, Jack, Callum, Alex and Liam with Lily showing great confidence and scoring the majority or our goals.
They showed a brilliant team spirit as well as a clear defensive and attacking awareness.
As the results were announced it was clear we were once again in the top 2. The positions were, in the end, decided on goal difference but with Guardian Angels scoring one more than us they deservedly collected the gold medals and Holcombe Brook the silver.
Second in Manchester is still an amazing achievement. A big thank you to Mr. French for prepping the team as well as the parents for their support. (Sadly, Mr. French had to dash after the results so couldn’t make the team photo.)
Well done Team HB!
