Holcombe Brook has a policy of providing home learning opportunities that are enjoyable, manageable and interesting. The purpose of giving homework is to reinforce and extend what is learned in school. The majority of homework activities are designed for pupils to be able to complete largely independently, especially in Key Stage 2. Some projects will be spread over a longer period of time and will need parental support.
The following homework is set on a regular basis:
Reception:
- Phonics homework
- Reading books
KS1:
- Phonics homework
- Reading books
LKS2:
- Reading books
- Maths (based on class learning)
- Spellings
UKS2:
- Maths (based on class learning)
- Grammar (based on class learning)
- Spellings
Class teachers may give more class specific homework details on their Class Dojo page.
In addition to this regular homework, children also have access to a wealth of online learning. We also create children accounts on Timestable Rockstars, Numbots and Ed Shed. These sites allow children to develop their skills whilst playing games. They also offer an element of competition between friends/classes.
