About Our School

Our school was opened in 1967 and is situated on the outskirts of Bury, occupying a pleasant site with commanding views toward Holcombe Hill and the surrounding countryside.

The buildings consist of a main school with seven teaching rooms, hall, kitchen and administrative block, plus three teaching rooms at the rear of the main building. There is also a purpose built Computer Suite and Library containing 18 networked computer stations with safe internet access. The building is maintained to a high standard both internally and externally. There is also a large playground and plenty of outside field space for Physical Education and other activities.

Visitors to the school will find a welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff and hard working pupils! We pride ourselves on our vision:

INCLUDE ♦ ENJOY ♦ ACHIEVE

We are always trying to improve the education we provide for the children in our care. In return, we expect children to work hard and behave well both in school and outside in the community. High standards can only be attained by hard work on the part of everyone in school and with support from parents at home.

We have a ‘Home/School Agreement’ which was produced together with the Governors, Staff, Parents and School Councillors and is shared with all new pupils and their families. This agreement is available here.

The School Community

Holcombe Brook Primary School also offers the following provision;

  • A nursery unit, for children from the age of 2 to the year before they are due to start in the reception age group. This is a private business housed within the school building of which members of the school’s Governing Body are Directors. A prospectus is available for this provision, which is run on a fee paying basis.
  • A Before and After School Club (4-7-11) which runs each morning and evening
  • A Summer Holiday Play-scheme run by staff of the After School Club.

Please contact the school for further information.

Holcombe Brook has an active and very successful Parent/Teacher Association to which all new parents are warmly welcome. The PTA meets regularly to plan and organise fundraising events for school such as discos, fun days, fairs and non uniform days. All money raised goes back into school to purchase equipment or resources for all children to access.

At Holcombe Brook we believe in opening up as many activities and community links to our children as possible. We use the services of the Tennis Club and link with the local High School, Woodhey, for many events. At Christmas, our Infants sing carols and songs at Hewlett Court to residents and our fairs are all extremely well attended by ex pupils and members of the local community. Our premises are used in the evenings and weekends by local groups such as Red Tiger Karate and the Pauline Quirke Academy

All the above, we feel, make Holcombe Brook Primary School an especially ‘community minded’ place for your child to grow.
