Holcombe Brook Primary has forged many links both within Bury and nationally in our quest to further our research and practice in teaching and learning. Click on the links below to find out more about specific professional development groups and ‘sharing good practice/leading learning’ groups.
Holcombe Brook is currently part of a cluster with three other Bury Primary Schools looking at how we can share effective practice and improve outcomes for all children in our locality. Our focus this academic year is raising standards in writing. Holcombe Brook is also proud to work alongside 11 other Bury North Schools to pool resources and act as critical friends to one another.
We are members of the NCETM North West One Maths Hub. Several members of staff are trained national writing moderators and we provide training for other schools in areas such as: developing the EYFS environment and improving outcomes in Key Stage 2
We collaborate with the Karen Ryder Theatre School to offer all of our pupils access to drama classes within school. Principal, Karen Ryder, works in our school each week to focus on speaking and listening and drama objectives linked to our curriculum. Many of our pupils have enrolled in the drama school as a spin off from the lessons in our school.
We have a long standing link with Bury Music Service. Our pupils are offered bespoke music tuition within school hours in a wide variety of instruments. In addition to this provision, our specialist music teacher, Mrs Katie Geelan, works within our school on specific performance-based projects throughout the year.
The school currently provides a venue for the Red Tiger Karate Club and the Pauline Quirke Performing Arts Academy
