Golden Gate: Science and Maths

Thinking skills and learning styles

The children in year 6 continue to enjoy solving problems and fair testing in Maths and Science respectively.

The investigation in Science was to see which biscuit lasted the longest when dunked in a cup of tea (hot water): Rich Tea, digestive, hobnob, chocolate digestive or ginger nut. Predictions were made and the fair test undertaken, keeping all variables the same apart from the biscuit! They used ‘numbers’ on the iPad to record their results and create a graph.

We are now creating our own ‘Lunar Fairground’. The first fairground on the moon in 2050! The children are using their knowledge of area and money to plan it carefully and work out costs and profit margins.
