Authentic Spanish all the way from Almeria!

We use several key tools around school and in the classroom to help teach and develop core values and skills, along a pupil's Learning Journey at Holcombe Brook. 'Learning Waymarks' shown here are specific items from these tools that are relevant to the content, or activity being reported. We add this information with the hope of strengthening these values and accelerating pupil development, both in the classroom and at home. We are fortunate to have a teacher, Maria Mar Jurado and her daughter, Victoria, staying with Mrs. Byrne currently, all the way from Almeria. We also have Inés staying with one of our families, she is 10 and comes from Valencia.

Maria Mar Jurado spoke to the year 6 class about Almeria’s climate, terrain and buildings. We also learnt that many films, including Indiana Jones, were recorded there. We found out about school life and many other aspects. The children then revised Spanish numbers and basic conversation, practising with their partners and our three Spanish guests!
