What a great morning it was on Saturday down at the Bury AC running track on Market Street.
19 athletes were competing from year 3 to year 6 and had been training for a few weeks to prepare for one of the highlights of the sporting calendar following trials back in April.
2 days before the competition the team received a boost when our brand new kits arrived thank you to rainbowworks (sponsor/designer) and SKKits (manufacturers).
Last year, we finished 6th place out of 19 schools. This year, 21 schools were competing, the announcer read “ In third place were Unsworth on 40 points and 10 points ahead of them on 50 points were…
Holcombe Brook!”
This was a real shock to everybody, but despite not receiving a huge amount of podium places we did get lots of athletes in the top 6 which all receive points for the team. It was a brilliant moment for all involved and the whole morning was a pleasure to be a part of: witnessing the team spirit and the manner in which the older children offer support to the younger children is fantastic to see.
Congratulations to Hollymount who won for the second consecutive year with a huge score of 81!
