Golden Gate Ice Bergs!

Work collaboratively with other children

We use several key tools around school and in the classroom to help teach and develop core values and skills, along a pupil's Learning Journey at Holcombe Brook. 'Learning Waymarks' shown here are specific items from these tools that are relevant to the content, or activity being reported. We add this information with the hope of strengthening these values and accelerating pupil development, both in the classroom and at home. Year 6 enjoyed observing their ice bergs using magnifiers this morning. Firstly, we added table salt or rock salt, then some food colouring and finally water. 

Whilst watching carefully, the children chose questions to answer about the changes they were noticing. 

Lots of scientific language was being used and the children enjoyed working collaboratively in their new groups. 

Once the ice began to melt and change shape; more salt and food colouring was added. Great effort Golden Gate!
