The girls were going into their first league game on Friday evening and it was clear to see that some were nervous! They didn’t need to be however, because after 1 minute, Halle broke free and managed to slot the ball past the Hollymount keeper!
Before the game, the girls told us all about Hollymount having a United player amongst their ranks – and they were right, she was a very very good player; but our girls were a really tight team and worked hard to make sure she didn’t get too much time on the ball.
At half time, the score was 3-1 to Holcombe Brook following a brace from Nikita.
Hollymount started the second half with grit and determination and scored a thunderbolt into the top corner that Erin, who had moved into goal, could do absolutely nothing about. Fortunately, Milly scored soon after this and Asha also came on to score a well taken left footed finish.
Nikita added the sixth and Hollymount scored a consolation. The girl of the game was Emily from year 5, who was magnificent at the back. She held her position superbly and looked confident throughout. Well done to all the girls!
A great match and the girls worked really hard. A pleasure to watch!
