Challenge yourself physically

We use several key tools around school and in the classroom to help teach and develop core values and skills, along a pupil's Learning Journey at Holcombe Brook. 'Learning Waymarks' shown here are specific items from these tools that are relevant to the content, or activity being reported. We add this information with the hope of strengthening these values and accelerating pupil development, both in the classroom and at home. During the assembly this morning there was a clear ‘thumbs up’ from all the children when I asked if they enjoyed their PE session with their sports coach this week! A big thank you to Mr. Cowling (Tuesday), Mr. Kemp (Thursday) and Mr. Davies (Friday).

Today, the year 3 class were perfecting their basketball skills and then during our final session of the day, there were five sports on offer: dance, football, JagTag, dodgeball and netball/basketball.

It was fantastic to see 150 children over the course of the afternoon – looking incredibly smart in their games uniform – taking part in something new or mastering skills in something old!

Finally, after school was our year 5/6 football club and again, children of all abilities enjoying the beautiful game! I just hope these children will get the opportunity to represent the school in the range of sports we love to enter.

Thank you to the teachers mentioned above and Mr. West, Mr. Crawshaw and Mrs. Lynchey too for supporting the after school club. We have managed to raise £150 and I’ve already put in an order for two basketball posts for just over £300 (as promised).
