Postponed Trip To Robinwood

Unfortunately the trip to Robinwood planned for tomorrow has had to be postponed due to the terrible weather conditions. The safety of the children is paramount and to attempt the journey, we feel, would be a step too far even for us adventurous and resilient members of Holcombe Brook! The centre itself is currently almost impossible to get to and roads are dangerous. The weather is so cold at the moment that the outside activities planned would have been really unpleasant even if we had managed to reach the centre.

We have managed, however, to secure two other dates from Robinwood (thanks to early work by Miss Crooks) but the centre can not accommodate all pupils in one weekend so we intend to split the Y5 and Y6 pupils into two groups with Y5 attending the weekend of 29th June and Y6 the weekend of 6th July. By this time we should be safe from the snow and will probably cope if there is a heatwave!

We understand how disappointed the children will be and hope that they will understand that there was simply no other choice. Hopefully they will feel a bit better knowing that there is another date booked for them.

Please advise us in school if your child will be unable to attend the new weekend for any reason.

Further details will follow once we are back in school. Please would parents on Facebook and Twitter share this post to other Y5/Y6 parents?

Many thanks

  1. Extremely disappointing for the students but definitely the right decision! Thank you for finding another date so quickly, definitely helped soften the blow a little ⛄️

  2. I’m sure the kids will be a little disappointed but it’s definitely for the best.
Thanks Carolyn for finding us another date. You’re a star ⭐️ xx
