Please see below, a letter from Mrs. Geelan inviting our school community to a zoom gig at 7pm on Wednesday 17th June. We are also planning a warm up gig at 10am on facebook live linked to songs through the decades!
Here is the letter from Mrs. Geelan linked to the 7:00 zoom
“Dear Holcombe Brook children and families,
Sadly, it doesn’t look like our whole school community will come together to sing this academic year, so we would like to invite you to participate in our virtual music event to mark ‘Make Music Day’ hosted by Bury Community Choir and Encore Youth Choir. Below is information about this Zoom session, along with song lyrics and links which will take place on WEDNESDAY 17th JUNE at 7pm”¦”¦ For those wishing to join us, the Zoom code is 7872707229 and the Password is katie1. Please do not share the code on social media.
‘Make Music Day is the UK’s largest single-day music event and the world’s biggest celebration of music, taking place in 125 countries on 21 June annually. It’s a DIY festival encouraging people to organise live streamed music events for their communities. Everyone can take part as long as performances happen on 21 June and they’re free to view. Whether you Perform, Create or Watch, discover how you can get involved online in the biggest participatory festival of the year – visit makemusicday.co.uk or follow @MakeMusicDayUK on social media.
Rather than a live event (very hard to organise with so many people!) Bury Community Choir and Encore Youth Choir are planning a summer themed musical extravaganza and hope to get 200 performers involved in their online event on Wednesday 17th June at 7pm. It’s open to anyone in the local area and you are welcome to sing, play an instrument or bang a pot or pan or 2.
So get your sunglasses out, put up your parasols and sit in the paddling pool. Make sure you share your footage and photos with us so we can create a celebratory video to share on 21st June for Make Music Day.’
Please feel free to invite your wider family and friends to join us, it would be amazing for our children to engage in this event.
Get your shades on and get singing! You may wish to dress up in summer clothes from a different decade. Let’s see if collectively we can encourage 200 participants!
Hope to see you all”
Katie Geelan, on behalf of Bury Community Choir and Encore Youth Choir.
