The school football team had a first round cup tie against local school Woodbank. After just two minutes, Harry scored a great goal low to the keeper’s left and Rowan added a second from close range soon after. Woodbank however fought their way back into the game with a well taken goal that Maizie had no chance of saving.
Amelia added a third goal and it was 3-1 with just 10 minutes left of the first half. Moving Amelia to right wing caused the Woodbank defence major problems and we managed to score five goals in as many minutes, with Dexter pulling the strings in centre midfield. Half time arrived and we were 8-1 to the good with Tom and Ibraheem looking incredibly solid in defence – as well as calm on the ball.
For the second half we had a complete reshuffle with players playing in positions that were new to them, however we still managed to play some great football with Jack popping up with a couple of well taken goals and Rowan, Amelia and Harry adding to their tally. The group showed a great team spirit and worked incredibly hard for each other. Woodbank were brilliant hosts who deserved a fairer scoreline.
