On Thursday 14th April 2016 the Golden Gate Rugby Team played in a tournament at Springside Primary School. In the first match the team played Old Hall. Holcombe Brook dominated the match, passing and running really well. Their defence play was excellent and Old Hall could not break through. Final score 5 -0 to Holcombe Brook. The second match was played against St Joseph’s and St Bedes. Both teams were evenly matched which was reflected in the 1-1 score. We were through to the semi final against Springside. Springside scored the first two tries but Holcombe Brook put in some superb team passing and running to even the score 2-2 at full time. A golden try would determine a place in the final and after an amazing team effort in both attack and defence, Springside just managed to squeeze through in the far corner to score the try. The Holcombe Brook team played so well. A great team effort and super sportsmanship from all. Well done!!
