Several weeks ago we were kindly invited to a year 5 tournament held at Bury Grammar along with 5 other teams.

Our first 15 minute match was against BGS and Harry B had a couple of chances early on to put us 1-0 up. At the other end Harry R was doing an incredible job of keeping the goals OUT with some amazing saves. However, we did manage to make our excellent play count with an exquisite lob over the BGS keeper to make it 1-0 to HB! BGS equalised soon after but Lucius came off the bench to equalise with a well-timed run from the left wing to slot in at the far post after great work by Daniel and Harry.

BGS were piling on the pressure but Harry continued to impress with his outstanding shot stopping well supported by a stubborn back line of Freddie and Milly. With 60 seconds to go the star player for BGS struck a superb left footed shot that Harry had no chance of keeping out.
2-2. Hollymount were up next.

With just a minute to catch our breath, the team went back out to face Hollymount and we were fast out of the traps again with Ewan, Oliver and Freddie playing some great football down the right. Daniel popped up with a great goal and we weren’t happy at just 1-0. Pressing for more. This time with the last kick of the game, Hollymount scored to make it 1-1.
Hollymount beat BGS 3-1 which meant they won the group and went on to play SJSB in the final winning 2-0.
Meanwhile our team played in a ‘winner stays on’ mini tournament with 5 minute games. BGS beat CC Ainsworth, then we came onto the pitch and managed to beat Bury Grammar 1-0 with a well taken, and well deserved, goal from Ewan. Greenhill then came onto face us and we managed to beat them 1-0 with another great goal, this time by Oliver!
All in all. A great hour of football; the most pleasing aspect was that the team respected the other schools there and also thanked staff, parents and refs.
Long may it continue. Thanks to BGS and Mr. Sheikh and all the parents for supporting the team.
