Our Year 4 boys set out to Goshen to take part in a mixed year 3/4 7-a-side football tournament. We were in a group of three teams, after one of the other schools unfortunately had to drop out on the day. We won all 4 of our group games without conceding a goal, scoring lots of goals and playing some brilliant football in the process.

This meant that we were through to the semi-finals and we found out that we would be facing Christ Church Walshaw, who had also won their group. We took the lead due to a lovely left-footed finish from Harry Morris and it looked like we might hold on for the win, but CC Walshaw equalised late on with a great header. This meant that the game was going to extra time and golden goal.

Both teams were pressing for a goal in a tense period and unfortunately for us it was CC Walshaw who scored the all important goal. Our boys were deflated to lose the semi-final but we had to pick ourselves up to take part in the 3rd and 4th placed play off against St John with St Marks.

Our team played excellently in this game and won 7-0 – which meant that we were coming home with a bronze medal!

The boys behaved superbly and played their football in the correct manner, they were a real credit to themselves and the school. Well done to all of the boys involved!
