The children in year 5/6 have been truly moved by the events of WWII. Gooden Gate class took a trip down ‘the lines’ to see the impact of a doodlebug missile on Christmas Eve,1944,  which landed on Chapel Street (numbers 21 and 23) tragically killing 6 residents. Whitehead Gardens was created through a generous £5000 donation from the Whitehead Family. The children learnt more from this Bury Times report in 2013. The children behaved superbly and gained a great deal of knoweldge AND empathy.
