Before half term, our girls football team had a crucial match against Hazelhurst.
After just a minute the team was losing 1-0 but managed to fight back well to go in 2-1 ahead just before half time, following goals from Nikita and Halle. With thirty seconds to go till half time, Hazelhurst took a great shot and it just squirmed underneath Erin.
2-2.
After an inspirational team talk from Mrs. Lynchey, the girls were really up for it and Nikita scored straight away. We then had to withstand 15 minutes of pressure and the atmosphere in the crowd was extremely tense. Erin had to make two incredible saves, two of the best saves I have seen for a long time, earning her the Girl Of The Game trophy! With two minutes to go, Ella, who was making her debut and was a real livewire that didn’t give the Hazelhurst defence a second’s peace, managed to score with a tremendous left footed shot from just inside the area!4-2!
The girls have now progressed to the quarter final stages. Great effort girls!
