On Friday 6th February our school athletics team set out to compete at Phillips High. We were up against the 10 best teams in Bury and we knew that a top 2 finish would see us head to Sport City for the Greater Manchester Athletics event for the fourth consecutive year!
Throughout the afternoon we performed exceptionally and won several of the relays and some field events. The standout race was the girls’ 4×1 relay and it was also great to hear Erin Kenyon had won the speed bounce!
When the final positions were revealed in reverse the excitement was building as we had reached third and still not been called out! In third place was St. Bernadette’s and although it was very close we were pipped to first position by Hollymount. The children were gracious in defeat and enjoyed collecting their certificates and silver medals.
All the children had a fantastic afternoon, here are some photographs. We now look forward to the Greater Manchester Games on 24th March!
