Tonight we played in a semi final at Goshen Sports Centre and although we were without the injured Oliver Berry, we knew we still had every chance to go through to the final.
Two minutes into the game and the Chesham striker from Bury FC academy went round 2 defenders and Lucas in goal and slotted the ball into the empty net. Wow!
On the 10 minute mark, their striker was at it again and used the outside of his boot to dink the ball around Lucas and into the corner of the goal. 2-0.
A tactical change led to us getting back into the game but just before half time their striker scored his hat trick. 3-0.
In the second half, Harry Yates (playing in only his second match for the school) was asked to man mark their danger man and he was kept quiet for the next twenty minutes! With five minutes to go, Lauren’s dangerous free kick was parried by their goalkeeper and Ben Rigby slotted home from close range.
A consolation goal was the least we deserved after chance after chance was squandered.
It’s been a tremendous season and the children have shown great character and teamwork throughout. Well done on reaching the semi finals!
