Year 4 recently designed and created Egyptian canopic jars out of clay.
Here are all the photos from our modelling journey.
First we sketched out some ideas and then made our clay jars...
Then we painted them to look just like the real thing...!
Our boccia team set out to play in a tournament earlier in the week and put on a great display of teamwork and technique! They won some games and lost one, just missing out on a semi final spot! Thank you to Miss Forrest for coaching and transporting the team and to Mrs Seel and Miss Phillips for their...
If your child is in year 3 to year 6, they will have started their Friday afternoon games sessions. There are five sports available and each half term, they will move onto a new sport to learn skills and compete in matches. The sports include:dodgeball, basketball, netball, hockey, rugby (jag tag) and football! The rota will be shared each...
Incredible team effort from all our children yesterday. They kept going and squeezed every last drop of energy they had to put out a brilliant triathlon performance.
We are super proud of all the children who took part in this year's Science Fair. It was clear that so much preparation and practice had gone into these at home - so a huge thank you also to parents for supporting.
Sadly, only two children from almost half the class were allowed to qualify, as the quality this year...
Recently, Taj Mahal Class have been putting their circuit building skills to the test. A la Blue Peter, we made masterpieces out of sticky-backed plastic and what was possibly once a multi-pack of Pringles tubes.
(Click here if you missed our Electrical Circuit work Bright Sparks!)
So proud of their inventiveness!
I couldn't have been prouder of our class, last week, who visited the Bolton Museum as part of our Egyptian studies. They were so clued-up, showed impeccable manners and squeezed every last drop of canopic juice from the experience.
Year 3/4 have been lighting bulbs, spinning motors and buzzing buzzers, all with the power of a new-fangled technology known as a battery.
They have also been learning how to fix faulty circuits, identify a conductive material and make a switch.
Now they are ready to design products for their electrical circuits to power up!
Year 3/4 today experienced first-hand what it is like for a Weetabix to pass through the digestive system.
I wonder how many organs and their functions children can recall from the photographs below?
Taj Mahal Class have been all about the Stone Age this term. Today, we became stone age cave dwellers and made our own paint from chalk and water, made our own paint brushes out of sticks and made hand prints with (possibly) locally foraged charcoal. Here's the result!
And now for some close ups.
Year 3/4 have been studying the work of Aaron Douglas, a Harlem Renaissance watercolour painter who was famous for portraying black culture as vibrant and full of potential. A pioneer of his time.
Well done to all of our children in developing the watercolour skills to paint in his style. Such lovely pieces!
