Valiant effort by boys & girls

(Photographs and video below!)

It was a tough night in difficult conditions for both the boys and the girls but they showed resilience and perseverance in abundance.

The boys got off to a great start scoring in the first few minutes but were sadly pegged back just after half time. The games were only 6 minutes and so extra time was next. It looked as though we had the beating of Woodbank but they managed to break away and score on the counter. Our super goalie Josh couldn’t do anything about their two goals and the outfield players: Levi, Max, Alex, Liam, Jack and Freddie did everything they could to claw it back but it wasn’t meant to be unfortunately. Well done and thanks to the parents for their great support as well as the staff.

The girls were playing just around the corner at the BGS 3G pitches and were playing a mini league format rather than a knockout like the boys. They drew their first two matches 0-0 but still had chance of a runners up spot knowing a victory against Greenhill would clinch it – who had already won 2 games 1-0 and 3-0 – it was 0-0 but the girls kept trying and with 4 minutes to go, there was a goalmouth scramble and Emily popped up with the winning goal having been brought out of defence to try and bag the all important goal. Greenhill won the group with 6 points and we managed 2nd spot out of the 20 teams that had entered months ago. A super achievement.

Well done and thank you to Mr. Crawshaw and Mrs. Lynchey as well as all parents and families. The girls were really pleased with their trophies!
