Digestive System in Our Hands (mostly!)

Work collaboratively with other children

Taj Mahal recreated the Digestive System today.  Join us as we send a Weetabix through our digestive organs on a journey of mush and squelchiness…

We started in the mouth, where we modelled the action of teeth and saliva, and kneaded the weetabix to represent our tongues rolling our food into a bolus.

Then we swallowed the food through our oesophagus into our stomach.

Then our stomachs went to work digesting the bolus into a liquid soup.

Bile (food colouring) was then injected to the intestines, and the liquid food was absorbed into the bloodstream.

And, well, you know the rest!

  1. How I wish science lessons had been like this when I was at school – excellent work.
