Building Developments and Sensory Garden

There have been some major developments over the last week linked to our PTA funded sensory garden (phase 1) and essential building work in preparation for September and a safe return for all families.

The initial plans for the sensory garden were some time ago but due to some awful weather last year and  covid more recent (Sensory Garden Update ) we can now confirm that work for the first phase is well underway. Thank you for your donations and most importantly your patience. Local company ‘Groundwork’ are undertaking the project and came last week to mark out the initial sensory pathways and rotovate the area. A temporary portakabin arrived onsite this morning as well as 3 diggers!

Local builder Dave Jowett has been carrying out several projects in the hope to make access to school and one class (Miss McLoughlin’s) much smoother and swifter. As well as a new exit and entrance at the front of the school in and out of Miss McLoughlin’s class. There is also a new entrance to school adjacent to the bus stop.

As mentioned in the letter recently (Returning to school in September 2020) there will be two entrances into school, the new one and the car park gates with the middle gate and pathway (the original entrance) being used as the only exit. Remember, if you are happy to wave goodbye to your child from the wall then that will be a great help too.

The new sensory pathways will double up as an area for children to explore at breaks and lunch but also as a different route for parents to help spread out a little.

I will be updating with photographs and possibly a video later in the holidays but it will mainly be through dojo and Facebook/twitter for now.
