After managing to win their recent semi-final 3-2 in extra time, the girls set out to play their final last night against St. Margaret’s. We all knew that it would be a difficult encounter – as finals should be – but the girls really gave it their all! Just before half time, St. Margaret’s managed to score but Holcombe Brook never gave up and had several attempts in the second half that whistled past the post! With 10 minutes to go, we had to try and get a goal back but a change in formation actually led to St. Margaret’s getting a second goal. Although we managed a consolation late on, with a fantastic curling effort from Amelia, sometimes you just have to hold your hands up and admit to losing to a better team on the day. 

Maisie was the girl of the game with incredible saves throughout: double saves and even a save with her head at one point! It has been wonderful to see this group of girls get better since September and we still have a six a side tournament to come. So far this year they have now been crowned as the second best 7 a side team in Bury and the second best 6 a side team in Manchester! Amazing achievement!
