We had two matches at the same time on what was a fairly water logged pitch last night. There was also a hurricane on the way but that didn’t deter our dedicated staff, players and parents.
The match also saw the debut of our highly anticipated new aluminium football nets!
Lewis was the first to score in them, an absolute cracker into the top corner. However, Hazelhurst responded with three first team goals and the team seemed stunned. Meanwhile, on the adjacent pitch the result was 0-0 at half time.
The referees stayed where they were but the players swapped pitches, enabling all children to experience the new goals! The team that was losing 3-1 managed to turn it around after a bit of an ear bashing from Mr. Bradshaw at half time!! Showing what they were capable of, Connor scored 2, Joe 1 and an own goal, with Owain earning high praise and a man of the match recommendation from a parent after his performance at the back, bringing the ball out of defence and starting many good passages of play.
In the other match, Hazelhurst scored with 5 minutes to go only for Andrew to go up the other end and blast in a low equaliser – great effort!
Well done to all the boys and girls, we hope you have enjoyed the experience of playing for the school team. Please send in your kits by Friday.
