Our year 6 children are excellent ‘buddies’ to the children in reception. When they first started they wrote letters to the children starting school to welcome them to Holcombe Brook. They often come in to visit them and this is something the reception children really look forward to.
Reception class have been learning about African-American artists, Alma Thomas, for Black History Month. They created collage and watercolour paintings in the style of Alma Thomas.

Our new reception children, in Stonehenge class, have had a brilliant first half-term at Holcombe Brook and have settled in really well. They are learning how to explore our wonderful environment, both indoors and out, making lots of new friends and are already a big part of the Holcombe Brook family. This is the start of what we know...
This term in Stonehenge class, children have been learning about magnets. Following taught sessions, children explored the magnets by sorting materials, looking for magnets in the environment by testing and making robots using magnetic materials.
We are so lucky to have a wonderful mini forest school on the school grounds. Each week the children in reception are given the opportunity to play in the different areas such as the mud kitchen, bug hotel and music corner. In addition they can take part in different adult let activities.
