On Wednesday, our boys 7-a-side squad travelled to Bury Grammar to take part in a tournament. There should have been five teams but two didn’t turn up!
Our first match was against Wesley Methodist and despite being on top for the first 10 minutes, the opposition went ahead after a sweet strike from outside the box, which Josh had no chance with.
With 5 minutes to go, Levi’s persistence caused chaos at the back and his through ball was slotted away first time with a deft finish by Mikah. Great team goal.
Wesley then beat St. Joseph’s and St. Bede’s 4-0 and our lads went in far too confidently, once again going a goal down after 5 minutes. The team went all out attack, knowing a draw would be enough to qualify for the next stage. After several corners, the ball bobbled on the edge of the area and Jack, making his debut for the school team, managed to volley the ball into the bottom corner sending the 13 die hard fans into raptures and coaching trio of Mr. Crawshaw, Mr. West and Mr. Bradshaw delirious on the sideline.
