The above boys have trained really hard this summer term and topped it off with a well-earned victory against St. Joseph’s Ramsbottom’s year 4s.

It was always going to be tricky as we had a squad of 12 but not one of them moaned about being a sub or being in a position they weren’t keen on, which made Mr. Crawshaw and me very proud.

The team got off to a bright start and made the home advantage count, scoring in the first minute following a great run and low finish by Oliver, this was followed by a similar run and confident shot by Daniel: both boys clearly trying to impress their weekend manager, Rob English, as well as getting 1 up over their Rammy teammates!

Lucius added to the goals in one of his first competitive games with a lung-busting run from centre midfield and firm strike past the keeper.

Half-time 3-0.

A change of keeper saw Brody go in goal (who did a great job) and Harry, who had an excellent half in goal, play up front for the second half. SJB scored early in the second half but we went straight up the other end and Lucius got the 4th, and his second, of the game.

The best two goals of the game were a bullet header by Harry from a great corner by Henry. And to top off a great performance, Dexter curled in a left-footed shot right into the top corner.

Oliver had been asked to have a spell in defence but this didn’t stop him striding forward with ball and blasting in the 7th, celebrating with a hilarious walk on his knees!

Special mention to the 4 year 3 boys that were playing against, and with, year 4s – they worked very hard and didn’t look out of place.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable match and Mr. Crawshaw and I are very much looking forward to seeing what the future holds!
