Autism

Autism is a widely varying disability that affects the brain. You are either born with it, or develop it at a very young age. There is no cure, so it is with you for life. Autism does not damage you, but it can affect your brain or physical appearance in different ways, such as: finding it difficult to communicate; taking longer to understand things; feeling uneasy in an unfamiliar situation; repeating things in actions or in their head; becoming stressed when seeing or hearing loud noises or bright lights.

Here’s a video about some children, and their lives with Autism.

Many people think their Autism makes them who they are, and that life would be dim and unexciting without their Autism. It can actually make your life seem different and exciting, for some Autistic people see things differently, or link colours to words. Autism can make you more sensitive, or more aware of other people’s feelings.

People’s lives would not be the same without their Autism. It isn’t an illness, it just makes you you.
