Art & Design in Big Ben Class

This half-term we are learning about events, festivals and celebrations. We started by learning about Diwali and making Diva lamps out of clay.

We then celebrated Halloween by dressing up and making a witches’ brew. We wrote a list of things we would put in our witches’ brew using our phonic knowledge.

We painted some firework pictures using our hands for the fire and colour mixing red and yellow with our hands to make some orange flames. We made swirly patterns with glue and then added glitter for the sparkle of the fireworks.

We then remembered the people who had died during the wars on Remembrance Day by making our own poppies. We painted them red and black and attached a green lolly stick for a stem.  We  created the poppy picture, using our IT skills, on a computer program called Jit5. The children were fantastic in showing their respect by sitting quietly while we held a 2 minute silence on the day.
