Thinking skills and learning styles

We use several key tools around school and in the classroom to help teach and develop core values and skills, along a pupil's Learning Journey at Holcombe Brook. 'Learning Waymarks' shown here are specific items from these tools that are relevant to the content, or activity being reported. We add this information with the hope of strengthening these values and accelerating pupil development, both in the classroom and at home. This term, Taj Mahal Class have been studying local artist, Adam Rowlinson’s work, as part of our Love Where You Live topic. We have learned techniques such as silhouettes, block shading, shape patterns, layering and deconstructing and were over the moon to have him in.

Adam shared a wonderful story of how, on a wintry mountain bike ride, he took a photo of the stunning scenery, with its million shades of blue. He later turned this into the famous Holcombe Hill in Winter image.

Inspired, our children went on to create their own Holcombe Hill images – aren’t they wonderful?
