To compliment our Literact topic of ‘Grace and family’ we have been looking at The Gambia and traditional African rhythms. We looked at how the djembe drum is made from wood and animal skins, and listened to some traditional Gambian music, then practiced the rhythms ourselves on djembes and other skinned instruments. We had lots of fun and will be adding to our skills again soon.
